[...] Dukakis is the oldest living former losing presidential candidate, and is the last one from the 20th century (outside of incumbents).
A few points:
- Is a source cited for this in the body? I didn't look.
- The twentieth century ended on December 31, 2000, and Al Gore is still alive.
- I take it that outside of incumbents is an allusion to Jimmy Carter (and Poppy Bush, too, while he was still alive) and I guess the rest excludes candidates who ran for POTUS but failed to win the Democratic or Republican nomination, and the candidates in the general election from minor parties. I think these qualifications are too significant to include this trivia in the article. (And if I recall correctly, Wikipedia policy frowns on trivia.)

- I removed the part about 20th century. RudolfRed (talk) 01:52, 26 February 2022 (UTC)
Infobox portrait
[edit]Hello! I changed the portrait of Dukakis to "File:Michael Dukakis color 2015.png" because it was colorized and more recent, and figured that it could be switched back to an older photo if he were to die or something. However, I noticed that the image keeps switching, and I think we should at the very least come to a consensus on what image we should use for him. KoopaDaQuick (talk) 20:22, 17 August 2022 (UTC)
Dukakis being the only major party nominee to have ancestry outside of North and Western Europe

- My thought exactly. Obama had ancestry outside of North and Western Europe. 86.20.170.68 (talk) 20:51, 31 August 2023 (UTC)
Trivia
[edit]Dukakis is a descendent of the byzantine noble house doukas. Could this be included under trivia? 2003:E4:6F1D:2E85:21A1:DC9E:F9F0:AA6C (talk) 10:04, 10 August 2024 (UTC)

Request to Edit Primaries
[edit]With the 2024 election between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump, the second sentence of the second paragraph of the primaries section is no longer accurate. It currently reads:
"Every United States presidential nominee except for Martin van Buren (who was of entirely Dutch ancestry) has had ancestry from the British Isles. "
Kamala Harris also does not have ancestry from the British Isles having Afro-Jamaican and Indian ancestry.
The sentence could be removed or edited to say something else, such as:
"Every United States presidential nominee except Martin van Buren and Kamala Harris have had ancestry from the British Isles." WoodlWizard77 (talk) 02:13, 5 December 2024 (UTC)
