[edit]Anyone want to help me with adding pics of Gaz?
- The current pic should be sufficient. --InShaneee 4 July 2005 04:27 (UTC)
'spooky powers'
[edit]Gaz has no powers. Period. There has never been a shred of evidence in canon to indicate otherwise. Therefore, any mention of powers is 'cruft' and does not belong here. And before you argue that it's notable in fan communities, you've shown no evidence of this (of which a very large amount needs to be shown before this type of thing can be proven), which leads me to believe that you are (once again) simply posting your own opinions, which, as I keep trying to explain to you, do not belong here. --InShaneee 16:24, 13 July 2005 (UTC)
How about if I say that it's fan spec and it is untrue? :)
- Wikipedia is an encyclopedia. There's no reason to list 'untrue' facts. --InShaneee 16:47, 13 July 2005 (UTC)
Why are you judging my writing style?
- I'm not. I'm judging the content on your writings based on guidelines established through consensus by the users of wikipedia. --InShaneee 16:59, 13 July 2005 (UTC)
Will you at least retype or reword the section?
- Which section? --InShaneee 02:29, 15 July 2005 (UTC)
- Strange and Spooky - Gaz's "powers" and fan-made theories
Gaz has the strange ability to appear out of nowhere or to move from one place to another at unimaginable speed and power, no matter how inaccessible the place is. This ability is never explained by the series creator himself (leaving open many gaps in the history of Gaz) and only adds to her air of evil. She threatens other characters that they will be destroyed (when she is annoyed or if her concentration is disrupted), which oddly enough seems to be constantly. It has become unclear on how she destroys her enemies, but Dib is always beaten up by her.
She also has the ability to make herself levitate in the air and make her eyes glow blood-red; also, a ring of fire forms around Dib. This has only appeared in Gaz: Taster of Pork. Also, in The Most Horrible X-mas Ever, one commentator says that "Gaz's hatred" fixes the Spittle Runner that her brother was previously fixing.
Some fans have formulated over the years many theories and questions about the Gaz character. For example, some fans have sometimes speculated that Gaz may actually be a pig demon disguised as a young girl. "Evidence" is "claimed" to be apparent in the episodes "Bloaty's Pizza Hog", "Gaz: Taster of Pork", "The Most Horrible X-mas Ever" and "Lice". Also a fiery background was shown behind Gaz in two episodes, "Dibship Rising" and "Game Slave 2". --User Talk:Angie Y.
- There's nothing in there that deserves mention in the article. #1, Gaz HAS no powers. The teleporting, levitating, ect. was all simply visual effects used for dramatic/humorous effect. This is why Vasquez hasn't explained it: there's nothing there to explain. Thus, including this would simply be including false information. It isn't even notable on the basis of being a fan phenominon, since there's no proof that a large fan base, or even anyone besides yourself for that matter, believes in any of this. I'm a Zim fan, and I know this is the first I've heard of any of it. Therefore, it's not notable, as well. So, there's nothing left of that section to rewrite, which is why I kept removing it. --InShaneee 04:39, 17 July 2005 (UTC)
I suppose if a person really wanted to mention Gaz' apparent "powers" (yes I know she doesn't have any but couldn't think how else to phrase the sentence) you could simply mention that Gaz's interactions with other characters are often dramatic with effects such as rings of fire and sudden storm clouds adding a dramatic contrast with her often apathetic stance on life. 12:45pm, 28 June 2006
Gaz's Japanese voice actress

Requested move
[edit]I imagine that discussion here might be a bit biased, but I suggest that this page should be moved to Gaz. The current page redirects back here now, and is the former home of the disambig page now located at Gaz (disambiguation). I see nothing listed that takes precidence over the Gaz slot, so unless there are objections I will go ahead and move it. --IntrigueBlue 12:53, 9 May 2006 (UTC)
- Wow, good catch. I'd say that's definatly a good move, though there'll probably need to be some double-redirect cleanup to be done afterwards. --InShaneee 16:05, 9 May 2006 (UTC)
- Request made. --IntrigueBlue 09:30, 10 May 2006 (UTC)
I think that Gaz should not redirect here. It should redirect either to the disambiguation or the Russian car manufactorer GAZ. --85.226.14.189 10:22, 4 September 2006 (UTC)
I disagree. Since Wikipedia has the ability to make the distinction between "Gaz" and "GAZ", I see no reason why the distinction should not be made. If GAZ were a feature-length article and Gaz merely a stub I could see justifying making this page redirect to the car manufacturer, but they are of comparable size. On a minor point, though: "Gaz" does not redirect here, it is the title of the article.
Regardless, I think the presence of a disambiguation page precludes any possible confusion. --IntrigueBlue 13:21, 16 September 2006 (UTC)
Speculation about Gaz' Origins
[edit]Where do we get this idea that she resembles Devi from I feel sick? As far as I can tell based on Jhonen Vasquez' simplistic drawing style the two look nothing like each other, aside from having the same colour (but completely different styles) of hair in the I Feel Sick comic. Also, where have fans discussed this possibility? Besides which, Johnny and Devi never had more than a single date, and that ended badly since Johnny tried to kill Devi.--Weenerbunny 12:52, 28 June 2006
- The Devi theory is most likely. However, I just found out about Gabrielle Drake who played a Lt. Gay Ellis in the British sci-fi series UFO. The purple wig that she wears resembles Gaz's hair style.--Bushido Hacks 05:37, 3 August 2006 (UTC)
- Either way, original research is not allowed. --InShaneee 23:40, 3 August 2006 (UTC)
Removed content
[edit]The following was removed from the article by Gromreaper (talk · contribs). The given reason was "not notable information and poorly written". I agree with him, but thought I would post the removed content here anyway.
==Physical appearances== Gaz is most always seen in the same clothes. One exception would be one episode during a flashback where Dib falls after a pig appears on his head when he was younger. She has a skull necklace, black shirt, grey sleeves, purple-pink stockings, and black shoes. Her hair is purple or pink depending on your opinion (like the stockings).

Gaz or Gaz Membrane?
[edit]Regarding a recent edit/reversion, I would like to point out that the name Gaz Membrane should be perfectly acceptable, given that her father is Professor Membrane (and assuming that this is not merely a stage name). However, since I cannot recall her ever being referred to as such in the show, I am inclined to agree with User:InShaneee's reversion. —INTRIGUEBLUE (talk|contribs) 01:43, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
- If it's not used in the show somewhere then it's pure speculation. Just a matter of figuring out if it was used in the show now... ---J.S (T/C/WRE) 01:48, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
- It wasn't; she was only ever called 'Gaz'. As a matter of fact, there's even some discussion as to whether or not Membrane is even her dad's last name. --InShaneee 21:49, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
- Membrane, believe it or not, is her dad's FIRST name. --Wack'd About Wiki 19:46, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

A source that could be used: Jerry Beck's Not Just Cartoons: Nicktoons!
[edit]I found a book in the bookstore called Not Just Cartoons: Nicktoons! by Jerry Beck. I'm not going to buy it and join the project, but I will ask the other members to get the book so that they can add real world information about various fictional characters.
This makes the creation of separate articles for *many* fictional characters feasible. Having information about the development of the character will make the articles satisfy Wikipedia:Notability (fiction)

Big or little?
[edit]They never said whether or not Gaz is Dib's little or big sister, did they? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.134.233.118 (talk) 20:41, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
